News Topical, Digital Desk : A case of honour killing has come to light in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu. A 26-year-old Dalit IT professional from Palayamkottai area was brutally murdered in broad daylight. Kavin Kumar was killed by his girlfriend's younger brother.
This incident has caused outrage among the people. Police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Girlfriend's brother was arrested
Based on CCTV footage and preliminary investigation, the deceased's girlfriend's brother Surjeet was arrested. The deceased's family has accused the girl's parents of being involved in the crime.
Both the parents of the girl are police officers. A case has been registered against both the officers and they have been kept on the waiting list till further investigation. Kavin Kumar used to work in a private IT firm in Chennai. Recently, he returned to his hometown.
According to locals, years ago while studying in a school near her village, she met a classmate and fell in love with him. The girl is the daughter of Saravanan, a sub-inspector in the Manimutharu battalion of the state police, and Krishnakumari. The family currently lives in KTC Nagar in Palayamkottai.
