Amazing incidents related to airlines keep coming up every day in the country. Meanwhile, a unique case related to Delta Airlines' plane has come to light. Regarding this incident, the plane passenger told that he was offered Rs 2.5 lakh to get off the flight.
A user known as bag_o on the social media platform explained on Reddit what exactly happened. He said that this incident happened on Monday on a Delta flight from Chicago O'Hare to Seattle. He wrote, 'I had a booking on a Delta flight from Chicago O'Hare to Seattle at 7:50 am.
The gate agent slowly approached the passenger and...
The user said that he had finished boarding in Zone 2 when a gate agent quietly came and asked two volunteers to deboard the plane with a $3,000 voucher. He wrote, ‘No mic, no big announcement. The compensation is $3,000.’
He revealed that two passengers were giving away two vouchers - one of $2,000 (roughly Rs. 1,71,000) and the other of $1,000 (roughly Rs. 85,000).
Why did the airline take such a decision?
The man thought he was one of the lucky two on the flight, but it turned out that a technical glitch had forced the larger plane to be replaced by a smaller plane. This prompted the airline to offer money to passengers to voluntarily give up their seats. Delta offered $1,700 to 22 passengers who voluntarily got off the flight.
The passenger further explained on Reddit, 'I always thought that once you board, you're off and done. But apparently, what if Delta runs into an operational problem (like fuel balance) and still needs volunteers? Then that window opens up again - and if you hurry, you could win big.'
