News Topical, Digital Desk : Following complaints about the requisition process for lekhpal recruitment in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a tough stance. In a meeting with officials on Wednesday, the Chief Minister directed the process to be fair and transparent. Taking action, the Revenue Council Commissioner has written to the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC).
The Commissioner has directed the department to submit revised information regarding the requisition of Lekhpal posts within a week. CM Yogi had warned the Chairman and Revenue Council after receiving complaints about the requisition process and directed them to investigate the number of 7,994 vacant Lekhpal posts and take immediate action as per the rules.
Case of recruitment for Lekhpal posts in UP
CM Yogi had issued instructions for vertical and horizontal reservations for 7,994 vacant posts. He ordered the implementation of 27 percent vertical reservations for Other Backward Classes, 21 percent for Scheduled Castes, and 2 percent for Scheduled Tribes.
CM Yogi held a meeting on Wednesday night regarding the complaints of Lekhpal recruitment requisition, in which he warned the Chairman of the Commission and the Revenue Council that any laxity in the rules of the Constitution and the reservation roster would not be tolerated.
Instructions to implement reservation as per rules
He made it clear that the constitutional provisions and the reservation roster must be ensured at all costs. The government is committed to ensuring every category's right to government employment. Horizontal reservations for the disabled, women, and ex-servicemen should also be ensured. Furthermore, vertical reservations for OBCs, SCs, and STs should be implemented in letter and spirit.
What is the reservation dispute in Lekhpal recruitment?
On December 16, a notification was issued in Uttar Pradesh for the recruitment of 7,994 revenue accountant posts. However, controversy arose regarding the reservation figures and distribution. Under the Constitution, OBCs were supposed to receive 27% reservation, but the notification allocated only 1,441 posts for OBCs, which represents only about 18% of the total.
After this matter came to light, allegations arose that the Other Backward Classes were not being given their full rights. UP Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on December 17th regarding this matter. Following this, Chief Minister Yogi held a meeting with officials and directed them to implement reservations according to the rules.
On December 18, SP President Akhilesh Yadav also raised this issue in a press conference and targeted the Yogi government. On December 19, the Revenue Council Commissioner wrote to the UPSSSC regarding this matter, requesting a revised list of posts in the requisition order based on reservations.
