New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a green signal to Indian PM Narendra Modi's efforts to mediate in resolving the current Ukraine dispute and described India as one of the three countries along with China and Brazil that are sincerely trying to end this conflict. He has said that he will remain in touch with these three countries.

Putin's statement is being seen as an attempt by PM Modi to end the ongoing conflict between the two countries by visiting Moscow and Kiev in the last two months and meeting the presidents of both the countries. President Putin has also named China and Brazil, but the heads of governments of these two countries have not visited Ukraine. The Indian PM is the only global leader who is in contact with both sides on equal terms.

I respect my friends: Putin

President Putin said these things while addressing a session of the Eastern Economy Forum (EEF) meeting in Vladivostok. Putin was asked if other countries can mediate in resolving the current Russia-Ukraine dispute, to which he replied that we respect our friends and partners, who I believe are sincerely interested in addressing these issues and resolving the conflict.

When Putin was giving this statement, Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim and China's Vice President Jen Zhang were also present on the stage.
