New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu unveiled a new flag and emblem of the Supreme Court to mark its 75th anniversary. President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday said efforts need to be made to change the "culture of adjournments" in courts to ensure speedy justice.

Murmu also released the flag and logo of the Supreme Court during the programme held at Bharat Mandapam. Addressing the concluding ceremony of the two-day national conference of district judiciary, she said that pending cases in the courts is a big challenge for "all of us".

'It is the responsibility of all judges to protect justice'

She said that all possible efforts should be made to change the culture of adjournments in the courts. President Murmu said that it is the responsibility of all the judges of the country to protect justice.

He said that the stress level of common people increases in courts. He referred to the 'Black Court Syndrome' and suggested that it should be studied.

Statement on the number of officers

The President also expressed happiness over the increase in the number of women judicial officers. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal attended the event.
