The girl arrived at the Ludhiana railway station and contacted her boyfriend using another man's mobile phone. The man then took her with him, and she stayed with him for approximately four months.
Meanwhile, the girl's family filed a missing person report in Madhya Pradesh. As the matter became serious, the police launched an investigation and finally located the girl in Ludhiana about a week ago. Subsequently, the police took both the girl and the young man into custody.
Police action and court decision
The police detained both of them and interrogated them, gathering all the information about the case. When the girl was presented in court, she stated in her statement that she was a minor when she left home, but that she was now an adult. She also clarified that the young man was her friend and had not mistreated her.
Following the girl's statement, the court granted the young man relief and ordered his release. Police later safely returned the girl to Madhya Pradesh and reunited her with her family. The young man has been identified as Sachin Jha, a factory worker in Ludhiana.
