Imphal: The cycle of violence in Manipur is not stopping yet. The series of protests continues in the state. Manipur is again on fire after the death of 12 people in the last week. The administration has imposed curfew in three districts of Manipur. Internet service has been suspended for five days in five districts of Manipur. The Higher and Technical Education Department has closed all government, government-aided and private colleges till September 12 in view of the unrest prevailing in the state.

Two thousand CRPF soldiers will be deployed

Amidst the increasing violence and protests by students, the Home Ministry has decided to deploy two battalions of CRPF in Manipur. Under this, about 2,000 CRPF soldiers will be deployed in Manipur. These soldiers will be deployed in tribal-dominated Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts. These two battalions of CRPF will be sent to Manipur from Telangana and Jharkhand.

Thousands of students demonstrated

According to Manipur Police, more than 60,000 soldiers of Army, Assam Rifles and Central Armed Police Forces including CRPF and Border Security Force (BSF) are already deployed in the state. On the other hand, violating the curfew, more than a thousand students protested in Imphal for the second day on Tuesday. During this, the security forces fired tear gas shells and opened fire in the air to disperse them.

Internet banned in these districts

According to Home Commissioner N. Ashok Kumar, mobile internet will remain suspended for five days (till September 15) in five districts of Manipur, Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching. Internet and mobile data services including leased line, VSATS, broadband and VPN services have been temporarily suspended in these districts.

Most deaths in Jiribam district

Violence has increased again in Manipur since September 1. In this, 12 people including two women, elderly and a retired soldier died. At the same time more than 20 people are injured. Six of the 12 deaths occurred in Jiribam district adjoining southern Assam.
