Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday the Cabinet has decided to transfer 32 cases registered in connection with the online trading scam to the CBI for investigation. Addressing reporters after chairing a Cabinet meeting, Sarma said the decision was taken after discussing the matter with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He said that it will take about a month to transfer the cases to the CBI due to some procedures. The CM said that men and women above the age of 20 promote these companies. These companies collected crores of rupees from people by claiming to give huge returns on investing in the stock market. After this, the companies could not pay the investors.
65 people were arrested
Himanta said that so far more than 65 people have been arrested in connection with the scam. Also, 14 SITs have been formed to investigate the cases. Apart from this, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a conspiracy was being hatched to implicate him in this scam.
He said, 'When a young man came to donate one crore rupees to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, I got suspicious. I asked the officials to find out what he does? After this, the online trading scam came to light during investigation.' Meanwhile, Dibrugarh Police is interrogating actress Sumi Bora and her husband Tarkshik who were arrested in this case.
