New Delhi. Due to moist winds blowing from the Bay of Bengal, heavy rains occurred in many states of North India, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. Cloudburst in Tehri and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand has caused extensive damage.The Kedarnath walking route in Rudraprayag has collapsed in many places due to cloudbursts. Due to this, pilgrims have been asked to stay at the halts only. A roadside restaurant was washed away due to the flood in the stream in Ghansali of Tehri. The restaurant owner and his wife died in this. Eight to ten vehicles parked on the roadside were also washed away.

One youth each in Dehradun and Haldwani drowned in the river

Due to the rising water level of the Mandakini River in Uttarakhand, the Taptkund area in Gaurikund and the parking in Sonprayag were evacuated. Two children died in Haridwar when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rains. Meanwhile, one youth each in Dehradun and Haldwani were swept away in the river.

Debris and stones fell from the hill near Netala and Bishanpur on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi. Due to this, the road remained closed for about two hours and 200 Kanwar pilgrims were stranded. The government has postponed Thursday's Chardham Yatra registration in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Holiday has been declared in schools of seven districts.

The water level of Ganga has crossed the danger mark in Farrukhabad and Badaun of Uttar Pradesh. In Varanasi, the connectivity of all the major ghats has been completely broken and the Ganga Aarti Sthal at Dashashwamedh Ghat and the funeral pyre site at Manikarnika Ghat have been raised further. The water level of Saryu in Azamgarh has reached close to the danger point.

Haryana Orange and Yellow alert issued

Heavy rains occurred in 10 districts of Haryana namely Jind, Karnal, Panipat, Sonipat, Sirsa, Ambala, Hisar, Bhiwani, Rohtak and Yamunanagar. Orange and yellow rain alerts have been issued for different districts of Haryana on Thursday as well.

Monsoon weakened in Bihar

Due to the monsoon being weak in Bihar and 37% less rainfall than normal, the paddy plantation has not even been half completed. Farmers are trying to save the paddy saplings by irrigating through borewells. It is worth mentioning that recently there was a flood like situation in Bihar due to the release of water from the dam in Nepal.

12 died in UP and 11 in Bihar

According to news agency PTI, 12 people have died in rain-related incidents in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, 11 people including an uncle-nephew died due to lightning in Bihar.

Basements along with roads in Delhi overflowed

Recently, three candidates died due to waterlogging in a basement coaching centre in Delhi. On Wednesday, the basements as well as roads were seen flooded in many places. People got stuck here and there due to waterlogging. Similar situation was seen in most of the places in NCR.

All schools will remain closed today due to heavy rain

The Delhi government had to order the closure of schools on August 1 (Thursday). Delhi government minister Atishi posted on social site X late at night and said that due to heavy rain on Wednesday and the forecast of rain on Thursday, all government and private schools in the capital will remain closed.

Water filled in the premises of Vidhan Sabha, Shivpal took a jibe

On Wednesday, about two hours of heavy rain in Lucknow exposed the poor arrangements of the Municipal Corporation. The monsoon session of the Legislative Assembly was going on when water started entering the gate from the road outside. Regarding this, SP General Secretary Shivpal Yadav took a dig by posting pictures on Instagram. The verandahs of the Municipal Corporation headquarters were also flooded with water.
