Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is going to give monthly honorarium to imams and muezzins and Rs 1 lakh to each Haj pilgrim. Naidu on Monday directed officials to implement these election promises.

The Chief Minister gave these instructions during a review meeting on minority welfare at the state secretariat here. He told the officials that the promise of giving honorarium of ten thousand and five thousand rupees to Imams and Muezzins every month respectively should be implemented soon. While one lakh rupees will be given to each person going on Haj pilgrimage.

These promises were made during the elections. Naidu has also directed the officials to complete the survey of Wakf Board lands within a year. He ordered the restructuring of all welfare schemes for minorities.

The Chief Minister also made it clear to the officials that the pending works under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram should be completed at a fast pace. Rs 446 crore has already been sanctioned for this program.
