Climbing Everest is considered a dream for adventurers around the world. Hundreds of climbers attempt to reach its summit every year. However, a video related to this has sparked a new discussion on social media. In fact, the surge of climbers on Mount Everest is taking a heavy toll on the peak. Those who reach the summit are leaving behind large amounts of trash, posing a serious threat to the fragile environment.
Shocking video went viral on social media
A video showing Mount Everest covered in snow and garbage is going viral on social media. The video has broken people's hearts. In the video, plastic polythene, old clothes, empty oxygen cylinders, and torn tents can be seen scattered across the snow. Social media users say that this video is from the year 2024, but the situation remains as precarious today. The images clearly show that human negligence has not spared even the world's highest peak.
This special appeal was made to the people
Shared from an ex-account called Everest Today, the video was accompanied by the caption, "The garbage piling up at Camp 4 is deeply saddening. While humans survive on oxygen, the mountain itself appears to be suffocating under our waste." The post states that in the race to reach higher peaks, we are forgetting our responsibility to the mountain that carries our dreams.
The post also stated that protecting Sagarmatha is not an option, but our responsibility, for nature, for future generations, and for the values we stand for. It also called for stricter regulations, cleaner climbing, and solid waste management.
