Thane. Badlapur Violence: People's anger erupted on Tuesday after a case of sexual abuse of two girls came to light in a school in Badlapur, Thane district of Maharashtra. The parents of the girls gathered in front of the school and vandalized and pelted stones there on Tuesday.

All this was going on when the common citizens also supported the parents against this heinous crime and in no time a large number of people gathered to support the parents. Everyone headed towards Badlapur railway station and after reaching there started protesting on the railway track. Due to this, the movement of local and long distance trains was disrupted for several hours.

40 people arrested

Today (21 August) Maharashtra Police has taken strict action in the case of protest and vandalism. FIR has been registered against 300 people who were protesting. At the same time, the police has also arrested 40 people. The arrested people will be produced in court today.

At present, internet services have been shut down in Badlapur and shops have been ordered to remain closed. Railway Police GRP DCP Manoj Patil said that the situation is normal now. On Tuesday, the police also resorted to lathicharge to disperse the protesters gathered at Badlapur railway station in protest.

SIT will investigate the matter

On Tuesday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the alleged sexual assault of two minors at a school in the state's Badlapur district and said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter.

The case may be investigated in a fast track court 

Fadnavis had directed the Thane Police Commissioner to prepare a proposal to run the case in a fast-track court. He had said, the Badlapur rape incident is very serious, I strongly condemn this incident.

Fadnavis further said, "The state government has formed an SIT under the leadership of an IG rank woman officer to investigate the case. The government is trying to take the case to the fast track court so that the victim's family can get justice as soon as possible."
