Strongly criticized Pakistan for illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir

After meeting with an all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad in London, the British MP appealed to the international community to support India in its fight against terrorism. He also strongly criticized Pakistan for promoting terrorism in India's sovereign territory and illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Pakistan's illegal occupation must end

He said, "We have to ensure that Pakistan's illegal occupation of a part of Jammu and Kashmir should end. Jammu and Kashmir should be integrated as a state as was determined in 1947. Only then can we move towards the elimination of terrorism."

 

Blackman also expressed serious concern over Pakistan's misuse of international aid and questioned whether funds meant for development were being used to purchase Chinese weapons for terrorism against India.

 

Pakistan to chair UNSC's Taliban sanctions committee

Pakistan will chair the UN Security Council's Taliban Sanctions Committee for 2025 and will be the vice-chairman of the counter-terrorism committee of the 15-nation UN body.

 

Russia and Sierra Leone will be vice presidents for 2025

According to the list of chairpersons of subsidiary bodies of the UN Security Council, Denmark will chair the UN Security Council's 1267 ISIL and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee, while Russia and Sierra Leone will be vice-chairs for 2025. Algeria will chair the 1373 Counter-Terrorism Committee, while France, Pakistan and Russia will be vice-chairs.

 

Guyana and Russia to be vice-chairs of Taliban Sanctions Committee

Pakistan will chair the 1988 Taliban Sanctions Committee which provides for asset freezes, travel bans and arms embargoes on individuals, groups, undertakings and entities associated with the Taliban that threaten the peace, stability and security of Afghanistan. Guyana and Russia will be the vice-chairs of the Taliban Sanctions Committee.

 

The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday elected Bahrain, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Latvia and Liberia to the 15-member UN Security Council for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2026, according to Reuters.

 

Britain, China, France, Russia and America are permanent veto holding members in the United Nations

The Security Council is the only UN body that can make legally binding decisions, such as imposing sanctions and authorising the use of force. It has permanent veto-holding members Britain, China, France, Russia and the US.
