News Topical, Digital Desk : On Wednesday, India criticized Pakistan over the crisis in Afghanistan. During the United Nations Security Council meeting in New York, India's Permanent Representative, Harish Parvathaneni, strongly criticized Pakistan's airstrikes on Afghanistan.

During this, India reiterated the concern of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan and condemned the killing of innocent women, children and sportspersons in Afghanistan.

Stern warning to Pakistan

Taking aim at Pakistan, Harish Parvathaneni said, “We also express deep concern that trade and transit terrorism is being practiced. The people of Afghanistan are becoming victims of this.”

India's representative stated that these actions violate WTO rules. Such open threats and acts of war against a vulnerable LLDC country struggling to rebuild itself under difficult circumstances are a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international law. He added, "We condemn such actions, but we also strongly support Afghanistan's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence."

Tension in Pakistan and Afghanistan

It is noteworthy that Parvathaneni's comments come at a time when border clashes have occurred between Pakistan and Afghanistan in recent years. Tensions with Pakistan escalated after the Taliban took over Afghanistan in 2021. Afghanistan, meanwhile, has denied this allegation, stating that it cannot be held responsible for security within Pakistan.

India's stand for peace and stability in Afghanistan

During the UNSC meeting on Monday, Harish Parvataneni said that India has been a strong advocate of peace and stability in Afghanistan over the past few years.

He stated that coordinated regional and international cooperation on key issues concerning Afghanistan is essential, and that strong engagement with relevant parties is essential to promote peace, stability, and development in the country. Parvathaneni further stated that India continues to closely monitor the security situation in Afghanistan.
