News Topical, Digital Desk : The government said on Friday that Pakistan has "illegally occupied" parts of the Indian Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said in a written reply to the question, the Government of India has consistently called upon Pakistan to immediately vacate all areas illegally and forcibly occupied by it.

 

The Government of India has lodged a strong protest with the Government of Pakistan. The entire Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been, are and will always remain an integral part of India. This was also stated in the resolution passed unanimously by the Indian Parliament in 1994.

America deported 1,703 Indians in 2025

 

In response to another question, Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the US has so far deported 1,703 Indian citizens, including 141 women, in 2025. In a written reply to another question, the Lok Sabha was also told that the number of Indian citizens deported from the US in the last five years (2020-2024) was 5,541.

 

The number of Indian citizens deported from Britain in the last five years (2020-2024) is 311. The number of Indians deported from Britain in 2025 is 131.

The minister also shared state-wise data of deportees. According to this, out of 1,703 Indian nationals deported during this period (January 20 to July 22, 2025), 620 were from Punjab, 604 from Haryana, 245 from Gujarat and 10 from Jammu and Kashmir, while six were placed in the "unknown" state category.

The Minister of State said that the Ministry is in touch with the US side to ensure humane treatment of the deportees during the deportation operation. The Ministry of External Affairs has raised its concerns with the US authorities regarding the treatment of the deportees, especially the use of shackles on women and children.

 

Airspace violation issue raised with Bangladesh

 

India has taken up the matter of inadvertent airspace violation by a Bangladesh domestic airline in June so that steps can be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents, the government told Parliament.

Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita also said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha that the Government of India has expressed serious concern over the continued incidents of illegal border crossing by Bangladeshis.

He said that in December 2024, the Government of India had strongly condemned the post on the internet media by an advisor to the Interim Government, which showed an incorrect map of Bangladesh, which was a violation of India's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also shared details of fishermen lodged in foreign jails, particularly in Sri Lanka, Pakistan or Bangladesh. 56 Indian fishermen are in jail in Sri Lanka, while 34 Indian fishermen are in jail in Bangladesh.

193 Indian fishermen in Pakistan

 

According to the lists exchanged on July 1, "Pakistan has acknowledged the detention of 193 Indian/believed to be Indian fishermen." Replying to another question, Kirti Vardhan Singh said bilateral discussions for renewal of the Ganges Water Treaty between India and Bangladesh have not yet started.
