These are the types of alopecia areata

- Alopecia universalis: This is hair loss all over the body, including eyebrows and eyelashes. This type of alopecia is very rare.
- Androgenic alopecia: This is a common type of hair loss in both males and females. Baldness in men is called male pattern and in women it is called female pattern hair loss.
Hair falls out during the treatment of some diseases
Medicines taken during cancer treatment or radiation therapy can also cause temporary hair loss, which is called Effluvium. In this situation, hair grows again after the therapy is over.

This problem of hair loss can be caused by anxiety or depression . In some people, this problem also occurs due to medicines. It is rarely seen that genetics has a role in this.

- Topical treatments include creams, foams, or ointments. Oral medications may also be prescribed. Many patients also receive corticosteroid injections into their scalp.
- Alopecia areata is often treated using laser light.
- Some ointments are used which irritate the hair follicles and they start growing. This leads to gradual hair growth.

This is a mental problem in which the patient starts pulling out his own hair. Repeatedly pulling out hair from the same place leads to baldness.
