News Topical, Digital Desk : 79th Independence Day: If we talk about patriotic films, names like Border, Bhagat Singh and Shershah come to mind. But apart from these, there have been many such films in which  interesting stories of patriotism  were shown. But these films could not get the hype as expected. 

As an Independence Day special, we bring you a list of top 10 patriotic films of Indian cinema whose stories were underrated. 

Saat Hindustani

Saat Hindustani was released on the big screen in the year 1969. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan made his debut in Hindi cinema through this movie. The essence of the story of the freedom of the Indian state of Goa from Portuguese occupation was shown in the film. 

Reality (Haqeeqat)

The story of the military conflict between India and China in 1962 was shown in the film Haqeeqat. How 120 Indian soldiers faced more than 3000 soldiers makes this movie special. Dharmendra played an important role in this film released in 1973.

Hindustan Ki Kasam (Hindustan Ki Kasam)

Hindustan Ki Kasam, a film based on Operation Cactus Lily during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, was released in 1973. This war movie set a unique example of patriotism, but commercially the film could not do anything special. Actor Raj Kumar played an important role in Hindustan Ki Kasam. 

Calling

Amitabh Bachchan starrer film Pukar is also included in this list. Released in 1983, this film depicts the Goa military conflict between a group of Indian revolutionaries and the Portuguese army. Actors like Randhir Kapoor, Zeenat Aman, Tina Ambani and Prem Chopra were also present in this movie.

Attack (Prahaar)

Actor Nana Patekar has dominated the patriotic films. In 1991, one of his films was released, named Prahaar. In this, he played the role of an Indian Army officer who raises his voice against the corruption spread in the country. Not only an actor, Nana Patekar also directed it.

Hey Ram

Kamal Haasan and Shah Rukh Khan's film Hey Ram is set against the backdrop of India's partition. In which the parallel of patriotism and unity exists between friends of two different religions. This film could not do anything special at the box office.

Bose: The Forgotten Hero (Bose Unforgettable Hero)

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose has made a significant contribution to India's independence as a freedom fighter. The film Bose: The Forgotten Hero based on his life was released in 2005. This film will awaken the feelings of patriotism in you.

1971 

The film, directed by director Amrit Sagar, depicted the story of the fierce military conflict between India and Pakistan in 1971. Many actors, including Manoj Bajpayee, played important roles in this film, which was released in theaters in 2007.

Let us play with all our heart (Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey)

Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone starrer film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey depicts the story of the revolution of 64 young teachers against the British rule. This movie, released in 2010, was directed by Lagaan filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker. 

Chittagong

The story of the Chittagong rebellion against the British in British rule India was depicted in this movie. Manoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui played important roles in this film released in 2012. Let us tell you that now Chittagong is under Bangladesh.
