News Topical, Digital Desk : In view of the increasing demand for electricity, another 2400 MW power generation project will be established in the state.
In the meeting of Energy Task Force held on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary SP Goyal, the proposal of the Energy Department to expand the Meja Thermal Power Project and install three units of 800-800 MW each was approved.
All three units will be established by NTPC in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh State Power Generation Corporation. The units, which will cost approximately ₹33,000 crore, will provide the state with electricity within five years.
A 1320 MW super critical power plant is already established in Meja, Prayagraj jointly by the Generation Corporation and NTPC Limited.
Now, after getting the green signal from the Energy Task Force, the proposal to set up three units of 2400 MW thermal power generation there will be placed in the cabinet meeting to be chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
After receiving cabinet approval, ground work will begin. Department officials say that establishing all three units will cost approximately ₹33,000 crore.
The units will begin providing electricity to the state's residents within five years. It is noteworthy that NTPC Limited is planning to increase its power production in the state by approximately 5,000 megawatts over five years. To establish these proposed projects, which will generate electricity from coal, solar, and nuclear energy, it requires land and water from the state government.
