News Topical, Digital Desk : Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian to travel to the International Space Station (ISS), has been awarded the Ashoka Chakra. President Draupadi Murmu presented Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla with the Ashoka Chakra, the highest peacetime civilian award, at the Republic Day celebrations today.
Shubhashu Shukla's wife, Kamna Shukla, was all smiles as he was awarded the Ashoka Chakra. She also joined the Republic Day celebrations in the line of duty.

Shubhanshu Shukla began his career as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force. This Ashoka Chakra winner has nearly 2,000 hours of flying experience on various aircraft, including the Sukhoi-30MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier, and AN-32.
Shubhanshu Shukla became the first Indian to visit the International Space Station and the second Indian to fly into space in June last year, aboard the Axiom-4 mission.
