
News Topical, Digital Desk : Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and domestic investors (DIIs) made net purchases in the Indian stock market on Monday. According to the National Stock Exchange (NSE), on Monday, May 5, FIIs made a net purchase of Rs 497.79 crore in equities and DIIs made a net purchase of Rs 2,788.66 crore. On Monday, FIIs bought shares worth Rs 9,365.89 crore and sold shares worth Rs 8,868.10 crore, making the net purchase Rs 497.79 crore.
Similarly, on Monday, DIIs bought shares worth Rs 13,917.99 crore and sold shares worth Rs 11,129.33 crore, taking the net purchase to Rs 2,788.66 crore.
How was the closing? Indian stock markets closed on a positive note amid good global cues. Buying was also seen in midcap and smallcap stocks in the first trading session of the week. However, SBI and Kotak Mahindra Bank put pressure on Nifty Bank today. The Nifty Bank index closed with a decline of about 200 points. PSE, metal and pharma indices closed on a positive note. Buying was seen in auto, oil & gas and FMCG stocks. With this, the market managed to close at the highest level of 2025. Nifty closed above 24,450. The broader market saw a gain of 2%. On Monday, 5 stocks rose instead of 2 stocks falling.
