News Topical, Digital Desk : Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, recently spoke about the success of Dhurandhar. The film has grossed over ₹1000 crore worldwide. However, Aamir says the film could have earned much more. Let's find out why Mr. Perfectionist said this.

'Dhurandhar' could have earned more

Dhurandhar's release was a box office smash, breaking records and impressing audiences. Although the film performed well at the box office, Aamir Khan feels it had the potential to earn even more. Bollywood's Mr. Perfectionist highlighted the need for better theater infrastructure in India, saying, "We need a lot more cinema halls."

Speaking in an interview, Aamir said, "India is a huge country, it's like a continent, it's huge, and every state has its own language, its own culture, its own films. So, I really think that in a country like India, we need more cinema halls, more outlets, so that we can reach more people. If you want to compete with China, for example, they have, I think, a million screens."

Comparison with China

Aamir continued, "We have 9,000 screens. What's the comparison? We're a tenth of their size in terms of outlets. That's why a big film in China does huge business, it does US$2 billion in China alone. In China alone, big films do that kind of business. Big films there do billions of dollars. So, when we increase our screen count, you'll see the base of your pyramid widen."

What did Aamir Khan say about Dhurandhar?

Continuing his point, Aamir cited the example of Dhurandhar, saying, "Let's take the example of Dhurandhar, which grossed nearly 1,000 crore rupees. Now, imagine if it had released on 15,000 screens instead of 5,000. That would be amazing! So, that's what I'm trying to say. Real change will come when the number of screens increases, because right now there are many districts in India that don't have a single screen."

Aamir Khan's work front

On the professional front, Aamir Khan was recently seen in Happy Patel: Dangerous Detective, in which he made a cameo and also produced the film. Aamir is reportedly set to play legendary filmmaker Dadasaheb Phalke in an upcoming biopic directed by Rajkumar Hirani, though no official announcement has been made yet. He has also confirmed that work has begun on his long-standing dream project, based on the Mahabharata.
