There is already a controversy in Bihar over the revision of the voter list. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India, citing the dead or migrated people in Bihar, said that 51 lakh names will be removed from the voter list of the state.
Names of 18 lakh dead people came out in SIR test
The Election Commission of India has given this information through a press release on Tuesday. The Election Commission said that the facts that have come to light in the SIR test include the names of 18 lakh dead people. 26 lakh people have moved to other assembly constituencies. 7 lakh people have got their voter ID cards made at two places. In this way, the names of a total of 51 lakh people will be removed from the voter list of Bihar.
The list of eligible voters will be released on August 1
Also, the Election Commission of India said that efforts have been intensified in the ongoing SIR in Bihar to ensure that all eligible voters are included in the draft voter list to be published on August 1, 2025.
Election machinery busy searching for voters
The entire election machinery, including around 1 lakh BLOs, 4 lakh volunteers and 1.5 lakh BLAs appointed by the district presidents of all the 12 major political parties in Bihar, is working in tandem to trace voters who have not yet submitted their enumeration forms (EF) or who are not found at their addresses.
