Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said he was not happy with any aspect of the peace efforts. Just a week ago, Trump held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. He has not yet been able to get him to agree to a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

 

Putin has too much hate: Trump

Russia attacks American factory in Ukraine

Speaking about an American factory allegedly being targeted during a Russian airstrike in Ukraine, US President Donald Trump said, "I'm not happy about anything related to that war. I've fought seven wars, and if you think about the pre-wars, add three more. So it's ten. I thought this war would be in that category in terms of difficulty. In the next two weeks, we'll find out which way it goes, and I'll be very happy."

 

Putin sees a ray of hope in Russia-US relations

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that he sees a ray of hope in Russia-US relations. "With the arrival of President Trump, I see a ray of hope. We had a very good, productive and frank meeting in Alaska. The next steps now depend on the US leadership. But I am confident that the leadership qualities of the current President Trump are a guarantee that relations will be restored," Putin said during a visit to a nuclear research centre.

 

Pentagon's intelligence chief fired

The head of the Pentagon's intelligence agency has been removed from his post. A senior member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and a Democrat lawmaker on Friday strongly criticized the Trump administration's move and called it another example of the politicization of intelligence agencies under President Donald Trump's administration.

US Senator Mark Warner, vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, said the removal of yet another senior national security official reflects the Trump administration's dangerous habit of treating intelligence as a measure of loyalty rather than the security of our country. Lieutenant General Jeffrey Krause, who leads the Defense Intelligence Agency, could not immediately be reached for comment.
