New Delhi: The petition filed by Rajya Sabha member Sandeep Kumar Pathak in Delhi High Court to meet Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was opposed by the jail authorities. They argued that the petition is baseless and malicious and should be dismissed.

The officials argued that Sandeep Kumar Pathak has violated the rules related to personal meeting with the prisoner and has presented wrong facts in the petition. It was argued that he deliberately violated the jail rules and spoke to the media about his conversation with Arvind Kejriwal and the jail administration is not in favor of giving him the facility to meet the prisoner in view of his past conduct.

The decision of the jail authorities is arbitrary- Sandeep Pathak

After hearing partial arguments, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna listed the matter for further proceedings on Thursday. Sandeep Kumar Pathak has said in his petition that the decision of the jail authorities not to allow him to meet Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail is arbitrary, illegal and unfair.

Jail officials claimed that after meeting Arvind Kejriwal, Sandeep Kumar Pathak gave a statement that Kejriwal is the Chief Minister and will remain the Chief Minister. If needed, he will run the government from inside the jail and from next week the Chief Minister will call two ministers to the jail every week. There he will review their departments and give them guidelines and instructions.

Three people were given permission to meet the CM

During the hearing, when the court asked if anyone was not allowed to meet Kejriwal, senior advocate Rahul Mehra, representing Sandeep Kumar Pathak, said three people were allowed to meet the chief minister and currently two people were meeting him. The court also asked the jail authorities to place on record the order under which Pathak was barred from meeting Kejriwal.

Kejriwal will come out with the blessings of the people: Atishi

Delhi government's Education Minister Atishi said that with the blessings of the people, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will soon come out of jail. The minister inaugurated a four-storey educational block in a government school in Maidangarhi on Wednesday.

Academic block inaugurated

Atishi said that thousands of children from Maidangarhi, Rajpur, Chhatarpur, Neb Sarai and other nearby areas will benefit from the academic block. Due to the large number of students, this school used to run in two shifts. Now it will run in a single shift.

The Education Minister said that after coming out of jail, the Chief Minister will come to Maidangarhi to lay the foundation stone of another educational block. Soon the construction of another educational block will be started in this area. This will provide proper facilities to the children who do not have access to quality education.

The minister said there is a serious waterlogging problem near the Zakhira railway underpass in west Delhi. This causes traffic disruptions. He alleged that there is lack of proper drainage system on the railway land there. Despite continuous discussions with the railways for the last two years and the Delhi government providing its share of funds, no work has been done so far.
