News Topical, Digital Desk : The first 40-metre full span pre-stressed concrete box girder for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor has been successfully used in Maharashtra, the National High-Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) said on Friday.

The heaviest girder in the country

NHSRCL said that this girder weighing 970 metric tonnes is the heaviest girder ever used in the construction sector in the country. It was successfully introduced at Sakhare village in Dahanu. It has been cast seamlessly using 390 cubic metres of concrete and 42 metric tonnes of steel.

 

Special indigenous heavy machinery deployed

The use of full span girders can enable construction to proceed 10 times faster than conventional segmental methods. To support faster construction, NHSRCL is deploying special indigenous heavy machinery like straddle carriers, bridge launching gantry and girder transporters.
