The target has increased threefold
American news website Axios has claimed in a report that Trump's close aide Stephen Miller and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem asked to increase the number of arrests to 3000 per day in a meeting. This number is almost three times the previous target given to the officials.
Miller is the White House Deputy Chief of Staff. According to the website, Miller has asked the field office director and special agent in charge to increase the number of deportations. It was also said that after the meeting, the officers are afraid that they may lose their jobs if they do not meet the target.
According to a statistic, there has been a significant decrease in the number of people illegally entering the US border. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said that the administration is serious about deporting illegal immigrants as promised by Trump.
