News Topical, Digital Desk : A protester was hit in the eye by a non-lethal bullet during a demonstration against ICE operations in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, January 31.

A video circulating on social media shows a man being helped after being shot in the eye. One side of his face is seen covered in bright green paint. However, no information is available about the man's current condition.

What did the police say?

The Los Angeles Police Department issued a dispersal order and declared an unlawful assembly after clashes between police and protesters downtown turned violent. Some people reportedly threw water bottles and other objects at police officers.

Police said more than 50 people were arrested during the weekend protests, which were part of Friday's ICE Out rally, on charges including assault on an officer with a deadly weapon, assault, vandalism, and failure to disperse.

What did Trump say?

Another protester was seriously injured when he was shot in the face with less-lethal ammunition during a clash outside a federal building in Santa Ana on January 13. President Donald Trump said he would not send federal law enforcement to Democratic cities unless they requested help.
