News Topical, Digital Desk : A close aide of jailed godman Ashok Kharat and his wife were killed when their car collided with a truck on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district.

The deceased were identified as Jitendra Shelke and his wife Anuradha. Their son, a close associate of Kharat, was seriously injured in the accident, an official said.

According to the official, Shelke was Kharat's business partner and also the vice-president of the Shivanika Trust founded by him. He said the accident occurred around 12 noon near Dhotre village under the Kopargaon police station in western Maharashtra, about 250 km from Mumbai.

Shelke, his wife, and son were driving the car from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Thane via the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway. Upon reaching Dhotre, Shelke lost control of the vehicle and collided with a truck parked on the roadside.

Ahilyanagar Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge said police were trying to determine the cause of the accident. It's worth noting that Kharat had been arrested in the past on charges of fraud and sexual harassment of women.

First, a woman accused him of rape. After this, his dark deeds began to come to light. The police have filed several cases against him.
