A new travel advisory issued by the US State Department advises citizens to reconsider travel to Pakistan due to threats of terrorism, kidnapping, and potential armed conflict. Pakistan has been placed in the "Level 3" (Reconsider) category in this travel advisory.
America's warning
According to the report, Pakistan faces a high risk of terrorism, civil unrest, and crime. The US State Department has warned that terrorists could target transportation hubs, markets, shopping malls, military bases, schools, hospitals, and religious sites without prior notice.
The advisory specifically issues a "Level 4" (Do Not Travel) warning for Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. Murder and kidnapping attempts are reported to be common in these areas. This warning applies equally to US citizens of Pakistani descent.
What is in the advisory ?
Additionally, American citizens have been advised against participating in demonstrations in Pakistan without permission. The advisory states that foreign nationals could also face detention for posting content on internet media critical of the Pakistani government or military.
