News Topical, Digital Desk : A "purification ritual" was performed at the famous Sri Krishna temple in Kerala's Guruvayur on Tuesday, following a recent video by a non-Hindu vlogger at the temple's sacred tank.

He is said to have washed his feet while making a video of the holy pond. According to temple sources, darshan at the temple was restricted till 1.30 pm in view of the purification ritual.

He said a procession called "Shiveli" was taken out and other pujas were also conducted as part of the purification ritual. The Guruvayur Devaswom, which manages the Sri Krishna temple, had announced the purification ritual on Monday.

In a post, Devaswom had said that a non-Hindu woman had entered the holy pond and made a video. This was not religiously correct. After the matter gained momentum, the woman has removed her post from the internet media. She has also apologized for this.

Temples are not secular places but sacred places: Union minister

The Karnataka government's invitation to Booker Prize-winning author and activist Banu Mushtaq to inaugurate Dussehra festivities in Mysore is turning into a Congress versus BJP battle. Today, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje objected to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's comments supporting the invitation.

Karandlaje wrote in a post on X (earlier known as Twitter) that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's comment that the Chamundeshwari temple does not belong to Hindus is highly condemnable.

He further said that it seems that he is trying to please the Congress high command, which had already reprimanded him for reading the RSS prayer in the Karnataka assembly. The tone, attitude and stance of the Congress party has always been anti-Hindu and against Hindu interests.

The temple is a sacred place

He further said that those who keep preaching secularism should understand that temples are not "secular places" but sacred institutions that rightfully belong to Hindus.
