The Supreme Court on Friday slammed a man for throwing out his now estranged wife and minor daughters from their home, saying such behaviour has destroyed the basic difference between humans and animals. "What kind of a person are you that you don't even care about your minor daughters? What wrong have the minor daughters done by coming into this world?" a bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh asked.
'How can you allow such a person to come to your court'
The bench expressed its displeasure and said, "His only interest was in having many children. We cannot allow such a cruel person to enter our court. All day long at home, sometimes Saraswati Puja and sometimes Lakshmi Puja. And then all this." Distressed by the facts of the case, the bench said that it will not allow the man to enter the court until he gives alimony or some agricultural land to his daughters and estranged wife.
The bench told his lawyer, "Tell this person to give some agricultural land or fixed deposit amount or maintenance amount in the name of his daughters and then the court can think of passing an order in his favour." The court said, "What is the difference between an animal and a human being who does not take care of minor daughters."

The case was registered in 2009 and he spent 11 months in custody.
got married in 2003
On September 24, 2024, the Jharkhand High Court reduced the sentence to one and a half years and increased the fine to Rs one lakh. The couple got married in 2003 and the estranged wife stayed at her in-laws' place for about four months, after which she was allegedly harassed by her husband demanding dowry of Rs 50,000.
