A ban has also been imposed on interlinked crackers in Sivakasi. Due to this ban, the production of crackers has declined by 30 per cent.

Production in more than 300 factories

It is said that there are more than 300 factories in Sivakasi and its neighbouring areas that manufacture interconnected crackers. The cracker manufacturer said that the share of sound crackers in the total production in Sivakasi is 40 per cent. About 20 per cent of these were interconnected crackers.

The effect of this was that the firecracker manufacturers had to keep their factories closed for a long time. The workers went to other factories. At the same time, heavy rains have also affected the production of firecrackers.

It is said that about 70 percent of the country's firecrackers are made in Sivakasi. The number of firecracker factories is more than 1100. More than four lakh workers work in them. BJP state president Annamalai had also shared a video regarding the firecracker business.

In the video, the BJP leader had appealed to the people to buy as many crackers as possible. He had said that many things are said about crackers, but this thinking is being imposed on us. Lakhs of people run their households by burning crackers.
