With snowfall in the hilly states, the temperature is falling further. Snowfall occurred on most of the mountains of Kashmir including the high mountain areas of Jammu division from Saturday night to Sunday morning. Heavy snow fell in the Pir Panjal mountains as well as Peer Ki Gali area on Mughal Road. The temperature in Kishtwar district fell to minus 4.4 degrees Celsius. It was the coldest place in the state.

 

 According to the weather department, snowfall may occur in some areas on Monday as well. On the other hand, snowfall occurred in the higher regions of Pir Panjal since Sunday morning. Snowfall also occurred in the remote areas of Surankot region of Poonch district. There has been snowfall of two to three inches near Peer Ki Gali on Mughal Road.

 

It may rain in Delhi today also

On Sunday evening, many districts of western Uttar Pradesh along with Delhi and NCR also received rain. After which the cold has increased further with the temperature falling. The cold is likely to increase further in the next two to three days. The Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of very light rain with thunder in Delhi NCR during the next 12 hours.

 

Fog may prevail in many states

According to the IMD, dense fog will prevail over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jharkhand, Sikkim and Himalayan West Bengal during the late night and early morning hours of December 9. Light rain may also occur at some places over Darjeeling and Kalimpong in West Bengal, Punjab, Haryana.

 

First snowfall of the season in Uttarakhand

 The weather in Uttarakhand changed on Sunday and the first snowfall occurred amidst partial clouds. There was light snowfall on all the four Dhams including Badri-Kedar and the surrounding peaks.

 

The weather department has predicted partly to fully cloudy weather in the state on Monday and light to moderate showers in most areas. Due to which the temperature is likely to fall further. The weather has changed in Uttarakhand due to the activation of western disturbance and there are chances of rain after about two months.

 

The first snowfall of the season occurred on Harshil, Lokhandi, Suki Top, Auli and other peaks. During this time, severe cold was felt in the lower regions.

 

Shimla received the first snowfall of the season on Sunday 

 According to the Director of Meteorological Centre, Bikram Singh, a fresh western disturbance has become active in the state. Snowfall in Lahaul Spiti and Chamba districts, hail fell in Shimla city. After about two and a half months, the first snowfall of the season occurred in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. After snowfall in the high altitude areas of many districts across the state, the possibility of rainfall in the state has also increased.

 

Severe cold has started in the entire state. Maximum temperature has dropped by two to five degrees. On Sunday evening, snow fell in Shimla city as well, while the first snowfall has also occurred in the areas adjoining Narkanda, Kufri and Chaupal, Nauhradhar, Churdhar and Chinjah of Sirmaur.

 

Apart from this, snow fell in Shikari Devi and Kamrunag of Mandi district and Pangi valley of Chamba district. Along with Lahaul valley, three to four inches of fresh snowfall has occurred in Shinkula, Baralacha, Kunjum Pass and Rohtang.
