After taking oath as President for the second time, Donald Trump has created a stir in the world with his statements and decisions. Meanwhile, Trump has decided to ban the International Criminal Court  (ICC) in his executive order.

Trump issued the order directing asset freezes and travel bans against ICC officials, employees, and their families.

Let us tell you that the International Court of Justice (ICC) is investigating the alleged war crimes of American soldiers in Afghanistan and Israeli soldiers in Gaza.

The court had issued an arrest warrant against Benjamin Netanyahu

Recently, the ICC had issued an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump had called this action illegal and baseless. Trump had said that the ICJ had misused its powers.

The ICC issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his former defense minister Yoav Galant and Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif on 21 November 2024. Netanyahu has been accused by the court of "crimes against humanity" and "war crimes".

What is ICC?

ICC has 125 member countries. It is a permanent court that prosecutes those who commit war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and crimes against member countries or their citizens. Especially when there is a case of criminal prosecution between two countries, then the hearing takes place in ICC. It is worth noting that America, China, Russia and Israel are not members of ICC.
