News Topical, Digital Desk : Taking serious note of the illegal sale and purchase of government land in the district, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has requested a detailed report from the district administration. The Chief Minister's Office has requested complete details of government land, along with information related to registration, use, and ownership in recent years. Particular attention has been paid to cases where complaints of illegal sale or usurpation of government land have surfaced.

The administration has expedited the process of preparing the report and information is being collected from various departments. The CBI office was operating on Nazul land located in Gwaltoli Shooterganj area of Civil Lines for the last 42 years. This Nazul land was sold to a private company for Rs 24.77 crore. After the administrative investigation, on 17 April 2026, on the complaint of Harishankar Vishwakarma, accountant of Sadar Tehsil, a case has been registered naming the accused lease holder Tarang Beri, Neeraj Beri, resident of Las Angeles, USA, Vikas Beri, resident of Pennsylvania, Manka Sharma, resident of Portland and SA Build High Private Limited and its director Ahmed Aitisham.

This isn't the first case of illegal sale and purchase of government land in the district. In the past year, FIRs have been filed in at least three major cases alleging illegal sale of government property totaling over ₹206 crore. These include several plots in the Civil Lines area where deeds were executed without proper permission, and construction work was even carried out in some locations.

Following the Chief Minister's request for a report, the administrative staff has become increasingly active. Officials fear that further investigations may uncover more cases. Consequently, they are investigating whether any organized gang or officials were involved in these cases.

The administration clearly states that Nazul land is strictly government property and its transfer without legal permission is illegal. Strict action will be taken against those involved in such cases. Further action will be determined based on a report sent to the Chief Minister's Office, which is expected to lead to widespread revelations and strict action in the coming days.
