Trump will impose tariffs on many other countries

Meanwhile, President Trump said on Friday that he plans to announce retaliatory tariffs on several countries next week to force other nations to treat the US equally. Trump did not specify which countries would be affected, but indicated it would be a sweeping effort that could also help solve America's budget problems. The move will fulfill Trump's election promise to impose tariffs on US imports that would be equal to the tariffs that trading partner countries impose on US exports.

Trump's talk of assimilating Canada is real: Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday that US President Donald Trump's call for Canada to be annexed is real and linked to the country's rich natural resources. Trudeau made the remarks during a closed-door session with business and labour leaders.

It discussed how best to respond to Trump's threats to impose tariffs on goods imported from Canada. His comments were first reported by the Toronto Star, which said they were accidentally broadcast over a loudspeaker. Trump has repeatedly said that Canada would be better off if it agreed to become the 51st US state.
