US President Donald Trump has surprised the world by talking about occupying the Gaza Strip. His announcement has not been liked by the opponents as well as the allies of America.

His proposal has been rejected outright and criticized. During a press conference at the White House on Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Trump said that the US will occupy the war-torn Gaza Strip and develop the region.

Saudi Arabia responded

Saudi Arabia, an important US ally, reacted sharply to Trump's statement on the occupation of the Gaza Strip. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that it has long called for an independent Palestinian state and its stance is firm and unwavering.

Relations with Israel will not be maintained without the creation of a Palestinian state. While Australia and New Zealand have supported a two-nation solution for Palestine. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that his government has long supported a two-nation solution.

China also protested

  • New Zealand's foreign ministry said in a statement that its long-standing support for a two-state solution is on record. China said it opposes the forced transfer of people to Gaza.
  • In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said, "China has always believed that Palestinian rule is the fundamental principle of Gaza's post-war governance." Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the US President's remarks on the Gaza Strip were unacceptable.
  • Egypt's Foreign Ministry and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa have called for rebuilding Gaza without expelling Palestinians. Hamas, which rules Gaza, called Trump's statement absurd and said that any such plan could set the region on fire. Houthi rebels, who control a large part of Yemen, have described Trump's Gaza plan as America's arrogance.

Trump also protested at home

Opposition leaders in America have rejected Trump's idea. Democratic Senator Chris Coons has called Trump's statement objectionable, dangerous and foolish. He said, 'This idea has created a risk of the world thinking that we are an unbalanced and unreliable ally because our president is making a crazy proposal.'

Palestinian American MP Rashida Talib from Michigan has strongly criticized Trump's statement. However, Republican Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson has described Trump's statement as bold.
