US teacher student relation A court has sentenced a former teacher from Maryland, USA to 30 years in prison. The court has given this punishment to 32-year-old Melissa Curtis for having an inappropriate relationship with her student. 

will have to spend three decades in jail

Melissa Curtis will serve three decades in prison for three counts of sex crimes, with 12 months of the sentence suspended and five years of supervised imprisonment, Fox 5 DC reports.

Allegations of sexual abuse of a minor

Upon release, Curtis will have to register as a sex offender for 25 years and will not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with any minors other than her own children. The former teacher turned herself in to police on November 7, 2023, and was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor.

Had sex more than 20 times in car and home

According to Fox 5 DC, Curtis had sex with the students in Montgomery County, sometimes in her car and sometimes in different homes. Police said Curtis allegedly gave the eighth grade student alcohol and had sex with him more than 20 times. They said Curtis had been a teacher for about two years and also taught at Lakelands Park Middle School. 

Prosecutors said the teacher also had a relationship with the young teen while he was alone at an after-school program.
