A woman who went missing from Karnataka 25 years ago has been found in Himachal. She was separated from her family about two decades ago and the family cremated her thinking she was dead. Now the woman has been found in Mandi. Due to the initiative of the district administration officials, the woman was able to meet her estranged family. She is a resident of Danayakanakere village of Vijay Nagar district in Karnataka and went missing about 25 years ago. Despite a lot of searching, she could not be traced and her family members thought she was dead.
The family members had performed the cremation
The family members had already cremated Sakamma 25 years ago, thinking her dead. After Sakamma went missing from Karnataka, a mutilated body of a woman was found in an accident, which the family members cremated thinking it to be Sakamma. A garland was also offered to Sakamma's photo at home, which the family has now removed.
Sakamma's story will make you cry
SDM Smritika Negi said that Sakamma, who was thought dead by the family members, is now alive and the happiness of the family members knows no bounds after knowing this. Sakamma's mental condition is not good but she remembers the things of 25 years ago and she says in Kannada language that she has small children. But Sakamma does not know that those small children have now got married and have become parents. Sakamma had four children out of which three are still alive, including two sons and a daughter.
Sakamma kept wandering in many ashrams
There is not much information about when and how she reached Himachal. In the year 2018, Sakamma was found abandoned in Himachal, after which she stayed in many ashrams. Currently Sakamma was living in the old age home Bhangrotu. Mandi's Additional Deputy Commissioner Rohit Rathore recently inspected the old age home Bhangrotu. He spoke to Sakamma, but she did not know Hindi, due to which the exact address of her family could not be known.
This is how it was revealed
Rohit Rathore made the woman talk to IAS officer Netra Maiti, a resident of Karnataka and posted as SDM Palampur in Kangra district, over phone to talk to her in Kannada language and gathered information about her house. Then he sent IPS probationer officer Ravi Nandan, a resident of Karnataka and working in Mandi district, to the old age home to talk to the woman more and after that a video of the woman was made and shared with the Karnataka government.
Apoorva Devgan said that with the help of the state government, officials and the Karnataka government, the family members of this woman have been found. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Mandi, the family had lost hope of finding Sakamma. Her children and grandchildren were assuming that perhaps she is no longer in this world.
