The Karnataka Assembly on Friday witnessed uproar over alleged financial irregularities in the Valmiki Corporation scam with the opposition BJP and JD(S) protesting against the government, alleging loot and demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Siddaramaiah admitted that the scam had indeed taken place. He assured that strict action would be taken against those involved. He hit back at the BJP, calling the opposition party the father of corruption. He asserted that his government would investigate and ensure that those who did wrong were sent to jail.

CM's retort on demand for resignation

Questioning the demand for her resignation, she asked whether the Union Finance Minister will take responsibility for the irregularities in a nationalized bank and resign, as banks come under the Finance Ministry. She said that allegations are being made to defame the Chief Minister and the government. Whoever the culprit is, we will ensure that they are punished. There is no question of anyone's safety. There is no compromise with corruption.
