New Delhi: BJP has announced the candidate for Wayanad by-election. BJP has nominated Navya Haridas on this seat. It is worth noting that Priyanka Gandhi is contesting from Congress on this seat. Apart from this, BJP has also released the list of candidates for the assembly by-elections of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
It is worth noting that Congress has made Priyanka Gandhi its candidate from Wayanad. It was announced quite early that Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Wayanad seat after Rahul Gandhi. Actually, by-elections are being held on this seat because Rahul Gandhi has left the Wayanad seat.
In fact, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi contested from two seats, Wayanad and Amethi, and he won from both the places. In such a situation, Rahul Gandhi left the Wayanad seat and kept the Amethi Lok Sabha seat with himself.
This seat was vacant since Rahul left the Wayanad seat. When the Election Commission announced a by-election on the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat, the Congress did not delay and announced Priyanka Gandhi's name.
Who is Navya Haridas?
Navya Haridas, who got a ticket from BJP against Priyanka Gandhi, is one of the sharp leaders of BJP. She is a mechanical engineer by profession and did her B.Tech in 2007. According to her social media profile, she is a Kozhikode Corporation councillor and the state general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha.
Navya Haridas is considered to be the youth face of BJP, which means that choosing between Navya and Priyanka among the youth will be a difficult task. BJP has made an electoral move by fielding a popular young leader against Priyanka. Now it remains to be seen which side the youth will lean towards.
