The cycle of violence and protests in Manipur does not seem to stop. There is anger among the people of Imphal valley after the killing of three women and three children in Jiribam. On Monday, the Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) protested in Imphal West district by violating curfew. During this, government offices were locked. Meanwhile, the Manipur government has suspended internet service in seven districts of the state till Wednesday.

 

Lock put on the gate of the Chief Electoral Officer

Manipur officials said that the protesters stormed the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Lamphelpat. After this, the main gate of the office was chained and locked. Apart from this, the protesters also locked the door of the main office of the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development in Takil and the gate of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics.

 

Officials say that the suspected terrorists are accused of killing three women and three children in Jiribam district. Kokomi is protesting against this incident. The organization demanded justice from the government.

 

 

Kokomi demanded military action

The Kokomi organisation is demanding military action against the Kuki Jo Hmar militants. The organisation has been staging a sit-in protest at Khwairamband market in Imphal for the past three days. Film personality Laimayam Surajkanta, who was part of the protest, said, "We will not tolerate the barbaric killing of three women and three children by the Kuki Jo Hmar militants in Jiribam. The central government should take action. The killers should be arrested immediately."

 

Let us tell you that the Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity is an organization of the Meitei community. This ethnic group is predominant in the Imphal Valley. There are a total of five districts in the Imphal Valley.

 

Two bodies found in Assam

On November 11, six people went missing from a camp in Jiribam district of Manipur. After this, the bodies of three people were found in the Jiri river on Friday. On Sunday, two more bodies were found in the Barak river in Cachar district of Assam. It is believed that these bodies are also of the missing people. Senior officials of Assam Police say that a total of five bodies have been found so far. Meanwhile, 10 Kuki youths have also lost their lives in the encounter between security forces and armed people.

 

Indefinite curfew in Imphal valley

In view of law and order, indefinite curfew has been imposed in Imphal valley's Imphal East and West, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching districts. The administration has extended the internet ban in two other districts Kangpokpi and Churachandpur.

 

 

Now internet service will remain suspended in a total of seven districts till 5:15 pm on November 20. In May last year, ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei people living in the Imphal valley and the Kuki people living in the hills. So far, more than 200 people have lost their lives. Thousands of people have become homeless.
