New Delhi. The Karnataka government yesterday said that it will provide 100% reservation to locals for Group-C and D posts in private companies in the state and 50% reservation in industry, factory management categories and 70% reservation in non-management categories.

However, after objections raised by the companies, this decision has been put on hold for the time being. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu's son has given a big offer to private companies.

Nara Lokesh offered to come to Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh and Kerala have invited entrepreneurs who are angry with the Karnataka government's decision to reserve private companies for locals to invest in their states. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's son and minister Nara Lokesh and Kerala's Industry Minister P Rajeev have welcomed entrepreneurs to their states and promised to provide them all facilities.

The National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) had criticised Karnataka's decision in a social media post.

Responding to this, Andhra Pradesh IT, Electronics, Communications and Human Resources Minister Nara Lokesh wrote in a social media post, NASSCOM members, we understand your disappointment. We welcome you to our IT, IT Services, AI and Data Center Cluster in Visakhapatnam. We are offering you the best facilities and 24 hour power, infrastructure and best skilled talent for your IT company, that too without any government restrictions.

Why did the controversy arise?

Let us tell you that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said a day earlier that the Karnataka Cabinet has approved the bill making it mandatory to recruit 100 percent Kannadiga (Kannada speaking) people for 'C and D' category posts in all private industries in the state.

He had said that the priority of the state government is to look after the welfare of Kannada people. This bill was opposed by everyone from industrialists to the opposition. After this, the Chief Minister deleted his tweet on Wednesday.

These states have already tried

Karnataka is not the first state to make provision for maximum reservation for local people. Before Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh have also announced reservation of up to 75 percent in private jobs for local people. However, this could not be fully implemented in any state.

What did the CM say in his tweet?

Earlier, CM Siddaramaiah had said in his tweet that in the cabinet meeting held yesterday, a bill has been approved making it mandatory to recruit 100 percent Kannadigas in 'C and D' grade posts in all private industries of the state. He had said that we are a pro-Kannada government. Our priority is the welfare of Kannada people. However, after the controversy increased, CM Siddaramaiah deleted the ex-post.
