People are always very curious about Naga Sadhus in Kumbh. Naga Sadhus with ashes wrapped around their bodies, sword in their hands and matted hair are the symbol of Maha Kumbh. It was often believed that some particular castes dominate these sadhus, but this time a big change is being seen. 20 percent of the Naga Sadhus who came to Maha Kumbh are from Dalit and tribal society, which is a good sign.
Naga Sadhus are also considered to be the manifestation of their tough penance, intense devotion and fierce nature and power. For centuries, these Sadhus have been flying the flag of Sanatan Dharma. These ascetics also associate themselves with the lineage of Shankaracharya, who earlier used to come from privileged castes only. According to the news of Times of India, this time there are signs of a big social change in it, this time a large number of Naga Sadhus from Dalit and tribal society came to Kumbh.
Dalits and tribals are also included among Naga Sadhus.
This is the first time in history that 20 percent of the Naga Sadhus who received initiation as Naga Sadhus are from Dalit and tribal castes. According to the data, this time a total of 8715 Sadhaks renounced the world by following the path of Naga Sadhus and Sadhvis. Out of these, 1850 were from Dalit or tribal caste. Apart from this, 250 women also joined the Naga Sadhu life.
These Naga Sadhus have come from every corner of the country. These include states like Chhattisgarh to West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura. These Naga Sadhus abandoned their relatives, family and the worldly world and shaved their heads and took a dip in the Sangam and performed Pinddaan and now they have joined those Sadhus where they cannot be tied in the bondage of any caste or lineage.
Mahant Ravindra Puri, president of Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad, said that a campaign is being run by the Akhadas to tell the marginalized people against conversion. In which many people have taken sanyaas and dedicated their lives to Sanatan Dharma and are working for it. Jagadguru Mahendranand Giri and Mahamandaleshwar Kailashanand Giri both come from the Dalit community and have been given the highest religious position in the Akhadas.
