A local court in Thiruvananthapuram has sentenced 24-year-old Greeshma to death for the murder of her lover Sharon Raj. According to the information received, Greeshma has been sentenced to death for mixing poisonous chemicals in Ayurvedic medicine to her lover on October 14, 2022. Sharon died in this incident.

While the sentence was being pronounced, Greeshma stood still, but Sharon's parents, who were present in the courtroom, burst into tears.

The court remarked that the crime was heinous and the culprit should not get any leniency. Although there were no eyewitnesses in the case, the court praised the police investigation team for conducting a flawless investigation.

The court also summoned Sharon's parents during the sentencing, highlighting the emotional gravity of the case. Also involved in the case were Greeshma's uncle, Nirmal Kumar, who was sentenced to three years in prison.

However, Greeshma's mother, who was the second accused, was acquitted. She died on October 25, 2022 due to Sharon's poisoning after battling for life for 11 days.

The relationship between Greeshma and Sharon initially started as a close friendship, but deteriorated after Greeshma got engaged to another man.

Evidence presented in court revealed that Greeshma had tried to end her relationship with Sharon, as an astrological prediction had stated that her first husband would die, allowing her to marry again peacefully.

WhatsApp messages between the two show that Greeshma had full faith in this prophecy, which Sharon tried to challenge and prove wrong. Relatives claim that Sharon symbolically married Greeshma at the Vettukadu church and even applied 'sindoor' on her forehead.

Sharon's family accused the Parassala police of initially trying to derail the investigation, while they said the murder was premeditated. The case took a dramatic turn when Greeshma tried to commit suicide by drinking disinfectant while in police custody.

This attempt, made just before evidence was to be collected, was foiled by police intervention, saving his life. A separate case was registered against him for this suicide attempt.

During the trial, Greeshma continued to deny any wrongdoing, despite substantial evidence presented by the police.

The case attracted widespread public attention and many people await the verdict as a test of justice in this extremely tragic story.
