Two former soldiers of the Indian Army killed a young woman and 17-day-old twins. After this, both remained absconding for about 19 years. The case was first with the police, then it was transferred to the CBI.
The army had also declared both of them as fugitives. But there was no information about them anywhere. Suddenly the CBI got a tip. According to this, both were living in Puducherry by changing their identities. After this, both were arrested.
The case is from 2006
Rajani, a 24-year-old girl from Yeram in Kollam district of Kerala, fell in love with Dibil Kumar B, a resident of the nearby area. Dibil Kumar was in the 45 AD regiments of the Indian Army and was posted in Pathankot.
The two had a relationship and Rajni became pregnant. On 24 January 2006, Rajni gave birth to twin girls. After this, Dibil started keeping distance from her. After this, Rajni's mother appealed to the Kerala State Women's Commission.
A friend also joined in
The Women's Commission ordered a paternity test in the case. After this, Dibil Kumar became furious. He started plotting the murder. Dibil's friend Rajesh was also in his battalion. He also knew the girl and her mother.
Earlier, he had told Rajni and her mother that he would convince Dibil Kumar to marry Rajni. But later, he himself became a part of Dibil's conspiracy. After this, on 10 February 2006, both of them together killed Rajni and her two daughters.
Both absconded after the murder
- Rajni's mother had gone to the Panchayat office to get the birth certificates of the twin girls. When she returned, she screamed after seeing the dead bodies lying in the house. After committing the murder, both of them fled from there.
- In March 2006, the army also declared both of them as fugitives. The police made a lot of efforts to find both of them, but they could not be traced. A reward of Rs 2 lakh was also placed on them. Despite this, not a single clue could be found about both of them.
Case transferred to CBI
In 2010, after the order of Kerala High Court, the case was transferred to CBI. But CBI also came up empty handed. After several years of searching, CBI got a tip that both Dibil Kumar and Rajesh were living in Puducherry under changed names.
Both of them had also made several fake documents including Aadhar Card. Not only this, both of them had even married two female teachers there, with whom they also had children. After this, the CBI team reached on the information and caught both of them.
Police got custody
The Chennai unit of the CBI arrested the two on Friday and brought them to Kochi. They were produced before the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday.
From here the police got his custody till January 18. Now the CBI will also demand his custody.
