ISKCON India's Communication Director Yudhishthir Govinda Das on Thursday expressed concern over the arrest of Pramukh Chinmay Krishna Das and blamed the long-running activities of fundamentalist elements in Bangladesh for this. He said that Prabhu Chinmay has been advocating the safety of Hindus and temples in Bangladesh.

The activities of radical elements have been going on for a long time in Bangladesh

Yudhishthira said, 'Chinmay Krishna, like other Hindu organizations in Bangladesh, has been demanding in a peaceful manner that the safety of Hindus and temples be ensured and action be taken against those who indulge in violence. The activities of fundamentalist elements have been going on in Bangladesh for a long time. Many temples were attacked in Noakhali and two of our people died. Recently, one of our centers in Meherpur was also attacked. We are trying to make both the local and national governments in Bangladesh aware of the seriousness of the situation.'

Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya, said, 'Their only aim is to harass Hindus and Hindu organizations there in some way. In such a situation, our government should think about this. There are saints and people with good ideology in ISKCON. Such conspiracies are being hatched there to divide Hindus... Unless the government intervenes, the condition of Hindus will be bad there.'

SJR Kumar, national vice-president of Sabarimala Karma Samiti, said that the developments in Bangladesh clearly show that their intention was not to remove Sheikh Hasina from power but to target Hindus. Initially, they had promised to take care of Hindus, but then they reneged.

Bangladeshi infiltrators should be sent back: Basavaraj

BJP MP and former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh cannot be tolerated. He requested the central government to take strict action and seal the borders with Bangladesh, identify Bangladeshi infiltrators in India and send them back at all costs. Secondly, the United Nations should intervene and stop attacks on Hindus. He accused the Bangladesh government of trying to polarize the entire society and turn Bangladesh into an Islamic nation.

We are with the central government: Mamata

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said in the assembly that she does not want to comment on this matter because it is a matter related to another country. This issue is to be resolved by the central government and the state government will follow the decision of the center. The policy of her party and government is that when it comes to other countries, both will be with the central government.

Expressing concern over the difficulties faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, the CPI(M) said that divisive politics based on religion is harmful for both Bangladesh and India. The party demanded immediate action from the interim government of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Shashi Tharoor has said that the officials of the ministry will inform the committee about the situation in Bangladesh on December 11.
