Lucknow : A criminal has been arrested in a police encounter late night in Lucknow's Krishnanagar. DCP South Keshav Kumar said that the accused Liyaqat Ali had kidnapped an 11-year-old student. He is a resident of the same area. Liyaqat, who was arrested after the police encounter, is being questioned. Liyaqat Ali is accused of kidnapping an 11-year-old girl and doing bad things with her. A reward of 25 thousand rupees was announced on him. A country-made pistol has been recovered from the accused. He works in a hotel. 

The accused was identified from CCTV footage

DCP South Keshav Kumar said that yesterday an information was received that a small girl did not reach home after tuition. After the information, CCTV was checked and it was found that a person was luring the girl and taking her somewhere. The accused was identified as Liyaqat Ali. The police had recovered the girl but he was absconding. On the basis of secret information, the police cordoned off the area. Liyaqat opened fire as soon as he saw the police. In retaliation, he was shot in the leg. 

The DCP said that two cases are already registered against Liyaqat Ali. Both these cases were registered under crimes against women. He has a criminal history in the past as well. Based on the statement of the victim, a case has been registered against him under the rape and POCSO Act. Police said that the accused was involved in similar crimes against two girls in 2005 and 2007.

According to the police, the girl went missing while returning home from coaching classes on Wednesday evening. Her mother dropped her at the coaching centre and returned home. However, when she went back to pick her up, she was nowhere to be found. The girl was found the next morning around 9.40 am. She returned home in an e-rickshaw. In her statement to the police, the girl revealed that Liyaqat, a chowmein seller, lured her with momos and noodles. He took her to a room where he sexually assaulted her.

The girl also told that when she insisted to go home, Liyaqat told her that he would let her go in the morning. Somehow, fearing police action, the accused dropped her on an e-rickshaw, which dropped her near a park and fled. Locals spotted him and informed her parents on Thursday.
