Israeli attacks on Lebanon killed nearly 500 people, including more than 90 women and children, on Monday, Lebanese officials said, in the deadliest assault since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. The Israeli military warned residents of southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of its massive air campaign against Hezbollah.

Senior Hezbollah commander Ali Karaki was also reportedly targeted in Beirut's southern suburbs. Israel has said it has struck more than 800 Hezbollah targets from where attacks on Israel were launched or preparations were made for attacks.

Tension increased in West Asia

Amid rising tensions in West Asia, the US has sent additional troops and weapons to the region. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the region. Monday (September 23) was the bloodiest day for Lebanon in the conflict between the two sides since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.

The fight that Hezbollah waged a year ago in support of Hamas now appears to be taking a toll on it. In the latest attacks, Israeli fighter jets are flying very low in Lebanon for attacks and are targeting Hezbollah's bases.

This war is not against Lebanon: Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the latest action was taken to destroy thousands of Hezbollah rockets and missiles. This war is not against Lebanon. While Hezbollah has said that it is targeting military bases in Israel and the occupied West Bank.

It has been confirmed that an Israeli civilian was injured in Hezbollah's attacks on Monday. With Israeli attacks increasing day by day, Lebanese citizens are now afraid of a war breaking out. They are saying that Lebanon is not in a position to withstand a war and there is a possibility of huge loss of life and property.

Citizens fleeing to safer places

To escape Israeli attacks, civilians are fleeing to safer places from the southern areas near the border, the Lebanese government has started making temporary shelters for them. Meanwhile, the Israeli army has warned the common people of southern Lebanon, especially those under the influence of Hezbollah, to stay away from the bases of the armed organization. It has been said that Hezbollah is attacking from the homes of the civilians to use them as shields in the fight. In support of this claim, the Israeli army spokesperson showed a video of Hezbollah fighters firing cruise missiles from a house in Lebanon.
