Israeli attacks on Lebanon killed nearly 500 people, including more than 90 women and children, on Monday, Lebanese officials said, in the deadliest assault since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. The Israeli military warned residents of southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate ahead of its massive air campaign against Hezbollah.

Senior Hezbollah commander Ali Karaki was also reportedly targeted in Beirut's southern suburbs. Israel has said it has struck more than 800 Hezbollah targets from where attacks on Israel were launched or preparations were made for attacks.

Tension increased in West Asia

Amid rising tensions in West Asia, the US has sent additional troops and weapons to the region. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in the region. Monday (September 23) was the bloodiest day for Lebanon in the conflict between the two sides since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.

Meanwhile, the Israeli army has warned the common people of southern Lebanon, especially those under the influence of Hezbollah, to stay away from the bases of the armed organization.
