Every year the makers release a big film on or around Independence Day holiday, whose earnings are not tremendous, it has rarely happened. Well, do you know which film created history with its single day earnings on 15th August.
Every year Indian films are released on 15th August or within a day or two of it. This is a good slot. The earnings are also quite good because the holiday is a benefit. But one film was neither released on this day nor a day before or after, yet it made the record of the highest earnings till date. This film was Gadar 2.
Highest earnings record on Independence Day
Sunny Deol 's film Gadar 2 became not just a film but an emotion. Released on 11 August 2023, this film created a stir as soon as it came to the box office. But the wonder it did on 15 August i.e. Independence Day, was recorded in the history of Indian cinema. According to Bollywood Hungama, the film earned more than Rs 55 crore in one day and made the record of the highest grossing film on Independence Day.
Gadar 2 roared in theaters for 8 weeks
This was a figure that surprised everyone. On the fifth day of the film's release, when there is usually a slight decline in earnings, Gadar 2 increased its pace even more. It got a great benefit from the 15th August holiday and the theatres were crowded with audiences. On the fifth day, the film's earnings rose by 43 percent. Gadar 2 roared in theatres for eight weeks and the film did a business of Rs 525.45 crores at the Indian box office alone.
Now Bollywood movie War 2 has been released on 14 August which has collected more than Rs 52 crore on the very first day. Now it has to be seen whether this film of Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR is able to break the record of Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 or not.
